The Freedom to Find Your Team
Many private independent schools require participation on school athletic teams, which can restrict your opportunities and limit your chances to pursue individual goals. At Peak, we believe extracurricular activities are a natural way for students to develop collaboration and leadership skills as well as a strong personal work ethic. As such, we prioritize cultivating community partnerships that allow you to participate on the team that fits your goals.
As a student at The Peak School, you are allowed to try out for sports teams at the local public middle school and high school. We also partner with Team Summit, Team Breckenridge, Summit Nordic Ski Club, and Summit Ski Mountaineering to support student-athletes who want to take advantage of Summit County's world-class skiing and snowboarding terrain.
Additionally, many of our students choose to commit to elite club teams in sports, including ice hockey, figure skating, baseball, equestrian, mountain biking, rugby, and ski mountaineering. We make it a priority to ensure you have the flexibility and support to pursue your athletic goals while also receiving an enriching and challenging college-preparatory education.
Ways that Peak School can help support athletes:
7:1 student-teacher ratio
Deliver a college-preparatory education in Summit County
Fixed schedule structure that allows for minimal impact on afternoon training
Narrative-based grading structure (In line with schools like Burke Academy)
Proximity to Breckenridge, Copper, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Frisco Nordic Center, & Woodward at Copper
Dedicated to providing great communication between The Peak School and coaches
An academic program that allows the flexibility to personalize an educational experience, which allows students to take the level of class that is appropriate for them
Can potentially provide transportation once a critical mass of student athletes is reached
Have created a senior project curriculum which allows seniors to intern/create senior projects for the whole 3rd quarter of their senior year (No classes)
Use of Google classrooms that allow students to access course material and homework remotely
Teachers who understand the increased demands associated with the different tiers of ski racing
Peak has offered a summer classes program to relieve pressure on skiers during the academic year
A healthy financial aid budget to help accommodate families that are a great fit for The Peak School
